The medical origin of SCENAR was the ancient Chinese understanding of the paths of Chi energy flow through the human body, acupuncture and zonal massage. As with these long-proven holistic medical practices, the underlying concept is that healing mechanisms lie within the human nervous and immune systems. SCENAR is designed to stimulate them to accelerate healing.

SCENAR is completely non-invasive – the device only makes contact with the skin – and works primarily by using electrical impulses to stimulate C-fiber nerves, which represent 85% of all nerves in the body and are responsible for signals that trigger the production of neuropeptides and other biochemicals that are the foundation of the healing process.

The device is placed directly on the skin, usually at the location where pain or discomfort is being experienced.

The SCENAR then sends a gentle electrical pulse and collects the electromagnetic "response" from the patients body which it then uses to modify the next SCENAR impulse.
